Step inside a larger‑than‑life learning experience on Friday, March 6th, from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the David H. Koch Center lobby in recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian are partnering with Boston Scientific to bring a giant inflatable colon to campus—a walk‑through exhibit designed to make colorectal cancer education accessible, visual, and memorable.
The interactive display highlights:
The progression from healthy tissue to polyps to colon cancer
Clear, easy‑to‑understand signs and descriptions at each stage
Key facts about prevention, screening, and early detection
Alongside the exhibit, we’ll have educational materials, screening information and free swag to help spark conversations about colon health.
Colorectal cancer is the second overall leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. It is now the leading cause of cancer death in men under 50 and the second leading cause in women under 50. Yet it remains one of the few cancers that is highly preventable through screening. Colonoscopy is an outpatient procedure that can remove precancerous polyps and reduce your risk of future colon cancer by over 70%.This event is a chance for our community to learn, ask questions, and take an important step toward awareness and early detection.
